Re:
STRATEGY & RECOGNITION OF INSULECTRO’S 40th ANNIVERSARY
In May
Insulectro passed a historical milestone celebrating 40 years
since its incorporation in Los Angeles, California in 1964. In
these economic and globally competitive times 40 years is
something to be very proud of. The majority of companies do not
make it that long. So I could not let this impressive milestone
pass without formal recognition and I think it is good to take a
moment, not only to look back, but look forward.
Insulectro has a proud and storied history. It has a culture that
has been cared for and nourished. Our culture makes us unique. I
believe this uniqueness started with the PUMA logo. It was chosen
to symbolize characteristics the founders wanted the company to
represent:
>
Speed---Agility---Predatory Instincts
Today,
more than ever, these characteristics are still alive at
Insulectro.
Insulectro has had varying strategies over the course of our
history, but all the time it has been a leading and well
recognized supplier in the printed circuit board fabrication
industry. Over the years Insulectro has been in the electronic
and electrical distribution materials (EMD aka ESCO), cable
assembly (aka Vykra then QIS) and PCB mass-lamination (QLP)
businesses. It has evolved as the industry has grown and matured.
In 1989,
a significant milestone year was marked when the company shifted
directions after a management buy-out. A strategic decision was
made that forever changed the future direction. Insulectro would
divest its non-PCB distribution businesses and focus on building
Insulectro as a national supplier of a broad range of products
used to fabricate printed circuit boards. This strategy has led
to a total of eight acquisitions and investments since 1992 that
proved to broaden our reach and scope to make Insulectro truly a
nationally recognized company. Equally as important, the strategy
has provided Insulectro with stable, long-term and exclusive
relationships with the premier suppliers in the industry. This is
a unique position that only Insulectro has established and it has
differentiated Insulectro in the market place.
Looking
back also includes mentioning the difficult years of 2001-2003 that
we all suffered through. But this recession proved that our
strategy, along with a great team, could weather this perfect storm
and together we focused on survival and emerged stronger than ever!
We emerged a changed company with our long-term DuPont and Atotech
relationship, the LCOA acquisition and a new relationship with Isola,
our largest supplier. What a proud accomplishment for Insulectro
over the period of three difficult years.
The road
ahead will not be any less of a challenge, but armed with knowledge
and experience from the past, we can stand prepared to adapt and
meet the future from a strong vantage point. If we allow ourselves
to become complacent or even satisfied, history has proven that we
will observe our competitors adopting our strategy. For this reason
we must never become complacent, but rather remember the PUMA’S
characteristics: Speed---Agility---Predatory Instincts. In order to
stay ahead of the competition, we want to drive our mission:
“To be the preferred supplier of PCB
materials”
This may
sound simple, but it says a lot. Insulectro will strive to be a
company that both our suppliers and customers want to do business
with because of our key strategies:
>
National
Infrastructure and capabilities
>
Complete

>

>

>

Materials Management
I am
confident that there are great things ahead for Insulectro. Even
with the changing competitive landscape, it will bring the
opportunities we thrive on!
My
commitment is that Insulectro will continue to:
>
Aggressively look for opportunities to grow our business
>
Have a
long-term commitment to the PCB industry
>
Invest back
into the business
>
Broaden our
geographic reach
>
Strive to
satisfy our customers
>
Align with
the strongest suppliers
>
Most
importantly – have the best people
All this
being said, we surely would not be here today if it were not for the
loyalty and commitment each one of you have made to make Insulectro
the very best it can be. In May, at the national sales meeting we
celebrated 40 years and we personally recognized those of you who
have contributed 10 or more years to Insulectro. This letter would
not be complete without including this recognition:
